📋 Overview

  • Budget: Each team has been allocated $20 to buy ingredients for their dish.
  • Class Day: You will cook your dish during class next week using a portable butane burner provided to each team.
  • Supplied Items: Salt, pepper, sugar, and oil will be provided. Everything else must be brought by your team.

📝 Rules & Guidelines

Recipe Development

  • Collaborate with your team to create a recipe that is affordable, simple, and uses accessible ingredients.

Budget & Receipts

  • Receipts Required: Each team must bring receipts for all ingredients purchased. This will confirm that you stayed within the $20 budget.
  • Budget Exclusions: Spices can be brought from home and do not count towards the budget. However, main food ingredients (like protein, vegetables, grains, etc.) do count.
  • Splitting Costs: Teams can split the cost of ingredients.
    • For example, if two teams agree to buy a dozen eggs for $3.50 and each team uses 6 eggs in their dish, $1.75 will be applied to each team's budget.

Equipment & Ingredients

  • Provided by HT: Each team will have one portable butane burner. We will supply salt, pepper, sugar, and oil.
  • Bring Your Own: All other kitchen tools and equipment must be brought by your team, including knives, cutting boards, pots, pans, and any special utensils needed.

Prep & Cooking

  • Minimal Prep Allowed at Home: You can do minimal prep work at home, like marinating meat, but all other prep and cooking should be done in class.
  • Team Involvement: All team members should be involved in the cooking process during class.

📊 Judging Criteria

Your dish will be judged based on the following categories:

  • Taste: 50 points
  • Affordability: 20 points
  • Presentation: 15 points
